Digital Spy Cams

Auto Date Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

The spy camera industry has evolved quite a bit over the last decade. People don’t want the old big cameras anymore; they want smaller and better cameras. Analog technology is no longer used, and the word “digital” is a must-have in any electronic device nowadays. That’s why even spy cams now have digital functions, digital display possibilities, and other new digital extras. It can be difficult to choose which digital camera to buy. Basically, the purpose of all digital spy cameras is the same, they are meant to be hidden and used to record a particular person or area.

Many factors influence the decision in choosing a digital camera. There are usually some particulars about the product that influence buying such as the image quality, the sensibility to low light, transmission frequency used and range, and the buyer’s previous experience with such cameras. Another factor not usually mentioned but that has to be taken into account is that the battery drainage is often high, limiting the length of time that the camera can record to a couple of hours. Digital zoom possibilities must also be taken into account. There are several models that lose a lot of clarity when zooming and there are several that don’t. Also another feature present in many products is an LCD display varying in size and image quality. People who need such a monitor to watch what they are recording live should look for a top model. People who are just looking for recording quality and don’t really watch the monitor or care about the display should look for a digital camera that has better recording capabilities.

There are hundreds, if not thousands of digital spy cams on the market. It is important that people pay attention to the specifics of the digital spy camera that they buy. Many models are not very good and cost loads of money, and advertise features they do not posses, or that don’t live up to the expectations that the buyer might have. Be sure to compare the prices and features of several different models. Buying a digital cam, especially a small spy cam, should be a well thought process.

How to Download Free Ringtones

Auto Date Saturday, January 24th, 2009

Ringtones are very popular these days. People personalize their mobile phones with different ringtones using several file formats, either monotonic, polyphonic and even full-length songs in mp3 or MIDI format.

You can either buy ringtones or get them for free. So where do you find free tones and music? The Internet. There you can find loads and loads of tones to choose from. Different websites have thousands of tones in online libraries, categorized by genre or classification, so you’ll not have a hard time finding the ringtone you’ve always wanted. So - how can you get these free tones and music for your cell phone? There are few simple steps.

First, check your mobile phone to make sure it’s compatible with the type of tones that you want. Say, for example, you want to use a ringtone in mp3 format - to use it, your phone should be able to use mp3 tones.

Once you find a tone you like on the Internet, you can ensure your phone is compatible with it by opening your WAP browser and typing the tone’s URL. After you’ve confirmed that it’s compatible, save the ringtone on your phone.

So how do you download the tone you want? Once you’ve found it, you can download it by clicking on the ringtone of your choice. A new window will pop up with a WAP address that you must enter into your phone’s WAP browser.

When it comes to searching for your free tone using a web browser, you should specify the song and enter the title or description into a search engine. And if you are unable to find the free polyphonic tone you are searching for on your first try, use more specific terms. You can add the format type like “Britney.mid” for polyphonic ringtone or “greenday.mp3″ for a song or “always.3gp” for the video ringtone. Also remember to include the words “free ringtone” to narrow your search.

You can also download ringtones by using a data cable to transfer it to your phone. Data cables can be found at electronics stores or you can visit elite-wireless.com to find one compatible to your phone. You can also check tagshop.com, where you can find cables for a wide range of cell phone brands and models.

So that’s how you can download and get your free ringtone right away!

Free Ringtones - Do They Really Exist?

Auto Date Friday, January 9th, 2009

Ringtones is now a multi-billion dollar industry and our appetite for ringtones shows no abatement. As with anything in life why pay for something when you get it for free?

The search for free ringtones grows everyday but do they really exist. We all see the ads “Free Ringtones” but where is the catch? Usually this a get 1 free ringtone by subscribing for premium services which can end up costing you 10’s of dollars before you realise it.

As the market has grown so have the ringtones. In the old days of beep beep phones free ringtones were readily available and still are as keypress ringtones which you could just enter into your phone by your phones composer module. They were most popular with
Nokia and Motorola phones but free ringtone converters are available to change the keypress codes needed to enter into different manufactures composers.

Then came polyphonic ringtones. Polyphonic ringtones are made up of multiple channels to give a more realistic sound. Ultimately
they are just midi files which are freely available on the internet in their thousands. A quick search on Google for Free Midi Files produces over 4,000,000 results so finding your favourite shouldn’t be too much of a problem. All you need do then is upload to your phone with a datacable, infra-red or bluetooth connection. If that’s not possible then there are also sites which allow you to upload files to their WAP servers and you download your chosen free polyphonic ringtones direct to your cell phone.

Next came MP3 ringtones also commonly know as true tone or real sound ringtones. With the explosion of mp3 files and the use of
mp3 players the chances are you may already have the sounds you want on your mobile phone as your ringtone. Fortunately there is software available on the internet that will help you do this and adds the advantage of being able to edit your mp3 files so it sounds exactly like you want it to. If you just want to hear the chorus, or the intro it lets you cut out the sections you don’t
want leaving you with only the bits you do want to hear. An added bonus is also the ability to increase the volume of the ringtone if you need to. If you can cut and paste a text file you can edit your own free mp3 ringtones.

The Many Features of Mobile Phones

Auto Date Thursday, November 27th, 2008

Once used simply as a means of communication, cellular phones have developed into quite useful tools. With the advent of recent advances in technology cell phone users now have more features than ever to enjoy on their phones. Mobile phones have, in essence, become minicomputers allowing a user to connect to the Internet and check their email or even the score of last night’s hockey game. Individuals even have the ability to send and receive text messages with their phones in situations where it is more convenient to do so than to actually call the person with whom they wish to get in touch.

Striving off of the recent booming success of MP3 players, cell phones have adapted the capability of importing and playing back songs as well. One can simply download songs onto their phone and play them with the touch of a button. Some cellular phones allow a user to record sound clips as well, which can subsequently be used as personal ringtones. Furthermore, the ringtone industry has become quite large as mobile phone customers frequently pay for downloadable sound clips of their favorite songs or favorite television shows.

If you happen to be at a social gathering and you have no means of recording a special moment or documenting the event via pictures, a mobile phone can suddenly become an even more valuable tool. Many cellular devices have picture and video capabilities, which would certainly allow for sufficient documentation.

Supposing you find yourself in a situation where you have to wait for an extended period of time and you eventually grow tired of just sitting there. Having a cell phone can help to relieve you of this boredom. The vast majority of mobile phones on the market today have games built into them and allow users to download additional cell phone games to play.

How To Choose The Right Phone And Keep Up With The Times

Auto Date Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

I’ve been in need of a new phone for a while - my phone is like a brick that I carry around in my handbag. I’ve seen a lot of good phones that my friends and workmates have, but I really didn’t know which phone would be the best for me. I want my phone to look cool and respectable, so that my friends and guys think it’s cool, but I also want a phone that does everything I want it to, without being too confusing.

I want a phone that has an alarm and a reminder on it - it is really useful to have a reminder function. My memory isn’t what it used to be, and I may think about something now that I have to do this evening, but without setting a reminder on my phone I’d most likely forget all about it. My phone also needs to use predictive text - I couldn’t live without that - but most phones have this nowadays I would presume. Two things that I’ve never had on my phone that I’d love to have are: a camera and an MP3 player. I’m so looking forward to having access to a camera everywhere I go, and to have my MP3 player built into my phone will be very beneficial too.

I’ve been meaning to call into a phone shop for a while, but I am just so busy that I can never seem to find the time. Then someone suggested that I looked online. I had never thought about shopping online before, and so this was novel for me. I was recommended to have a look at the Dialaphone website (http://www.dialaphone.co.uk ). I had a look here, and was quite impressed. This is a great site that’s easy to navigate, and has nice pictures of the phones that you can buy. From here I found a Sony Ericsson phone that I wanted to get. I couldn’t believe the deals that were on offer - they were fantastic. I decided to have a look at the Sony Ericsson website (http://www.sonyericsson.com ) to see how much these phones are worth, without taking out a contract. The Sony Ericsson phones aren’t expensive, but it was amazing to see the savings that you make by taking out a contract with one of these phone choice websites.

So the phone I’ve now chosen to meet all of my needs is the Sony Ericsson W300i (http://www.sonyericsson.com/spg.jsp?cc=gb&lc=en&ver=4000&template=pp1_loader&php=php1_10415&zone=pp&lm=pp1&pid=10415 ) - I’m so looking forward to playing with my new toy :)

Ringtones via Bluetooth

Auto Date Monday, November 24th, 2008

Millions of people everyday pay for ringtones to be sent directly to their mobile phone via SMS. So many people are unaware that if they have an iTunes or Napster account for downloading legal music they can transfer ringtones to their mobile for free. All you need is a blue tooth dongle. Cheaply obtained for around £10, they can offer unlimited ringtones and multimedia content. For instance, if you have pictures of a recent party on your mobile, you can send them to your pc and display then as your wallpaper or screensaver.

If you are looking to be that little bit more adventurous about your ringtone, you could always download software which would allow you to create your own music then transfer it to your mobile. But remember, if the song isn’t the best, you may find yourself getting funny looks from the kids on the bus when someone calls you. But isn’t that what ringtones are all about, uniqueness? Many ringtone advertising schemes use uniqueness as their target, but everyone followed the craze of the notorious crazy frog. So what ringtone reflects your personality? I will go with the classical English telephone and be boring, what will you choose?

Mobiles are Not Safe, then They are Safe? Is It Scare Mongering or Fact?

Auto Date Sunday, November 23rd, 2008

Around 8 years ago I received an email from my employer informing me, that I must use hands free kit when using my mobile phone within my line of work. Of course they were not Blue tooth in those days, a thin wire stretched from my mobile phone to an earpiece that was permanently stuck in my ear for 10 hours a day. The email was in response to health fears that mobile phones could contribute or cause brain cancer, of course the email was my companies attempt to remove any chance of future claims.
Are mobile phones safe is an argument that has been printed within the national newspapers and spoken about on TV news and debate programmes almost daily.

With was great surprise that I read in the UK newspapers January this year that mobile phones are in fact safe. This is not just an opinion, but research from the universities of Leeds, Manchester and the Institute of Cancer research in London. They claim that those who regularly use mobile phones where not at greater risk of developing glioma the most common type of brain cancer.

There was a link from those who developed glioma in relation to the side of the head and where that person would normally hold a phone. However the researchers believed that those who had developed cancer had made their own link to where they were holding the phone.

There was still some concerns though, that it may take up to 30 years of mobile phone usage or statistics to fully decide any dangers they may be. The research was also part funded by the 5 UK service providers which have cited comments that the research would favour these providers.

What is true though, is that the debate is going to continue for some time to come. In fact if 30 years is a true calculation, I calculate about another 15 years of coverage. Mobile phone manufacturers and service providers wanting positive press and the sceptics and scaremongers delivering their relevant slant on what is yet not proven, and the newspapers charging us for newspaper stories based on the same old theme.

Researching this theme on the Internet I found 330 articles dated over the years from one newspaper website alone, with only 2 of these articles suggesting mobile phones are safe. You would think without a clear answer on the subject, we would all be bored of the subject, but clearly the press still deem this to be newsworthy.

We may able to get good mobile phone deals nowadays but I don’t think we are getting a good deal from the press and researchers on real facts and not speculation.

I continue life with my now blue tooth hands free stuck to my ear for 10 hours a day or so, and it shall stay there until someone can put this debate to end once and for all.

Cell Phone Amplifier

Auto Date Sunday, November 23rd, 2008

What is a Cell Phone Amplifier

A cell phone amplifier is a surefire means of ensuring that you can hear the person on the other end of the phone. If you are always working in a busy environment or on your cell phone with other people around, look into buying a cell phone amplifier. This is one way to make certain that you never miss an important tidbit of information while speaking on your cell phone. The days of hiding in the bathroom so that you can hear on your cell phone are over.

A cell phone amplifier can help to increase the volume of your calls by up to three times its normal capacity. This is a necessity for the business person who is always on her phone in busy traffic or on the city streets. If you have ever tried to receive a cell phone call while walking down a city street at 9 AM, you know how hard it is to hear. A cell phone amplifier allows for the user to adjust the volume so that he or she can hear the person on the other end loud and clear. On some units, the user will be able to adjust the incoming call volume by up to 24dB. This is a huge increase in performance.

A cell phone amplifier is easy to setup and to use. Most of them connect in between the headset and your phone. Most of these amplifiers are also voice activated so that you do not have to mess around with additional switches that will just get in the way. Its compact design also makes for ease of operation when carrying it around with the rest of your stuff. The good thing about a cell phone amplifier is that most of them will work with your standard cell phone jack. Be sure to check this out before you make a purchase. This way you will not have to buy an adapter and add another piece to your set up. The price of a cell phone amplifier is approximately $50 US Dollars. Some of them may cost more or less depending on features and quality.

If you are always struggling to hear the person on the other end of your phone conversation, a cell phone amplifier should be a good purchase for you.

Mobilising the Mob

Auto Date Friday, November 21st, 2008

The new generation of mobile phones users have become more than simply talkers. With the onset of new technological advances, including peer to peer methods and computer-pervaded environments, it is becoming increasingly possible for groups of people to organise and coordinate collective actions on a scale never before imagined. Talk has turned to action.

Consider the following cases in point where mobile phone technology has amplified cooperative human efforts on a scale not historically seen before.

- A million Filipinos toppled President Estrada through public demonstrations organised through salvos of text messages.
- Mobile phones were used by protesters at the 1999 World Trade Organisation meeting in Seattle to coordinate the demonstrations, and outwit the centralised radio system of the police.
- In May 2004, the human rights organisation Fahuma launched the first continent-wide campaign using SMS test messages in Africa as part of a campaign that involved sending electronic petitions.

Howard Rheingold is one of the world’s foremost authorities on the social implications of technology. He says, “The people who make up smart mobs cooperate in ways never before possible because they carry devices that possess both communication and computing capabilities.” This does not only have to take the form of political action.

Barry Fox of New Scientist has found “Sony Ericsson’s latest idea is to sell phones which automatically change the way they behave, depending on the time, date and place. For example, the wallpaper display on the screen shows pumpkins when the phone’s calendar sees the date is Halloween and Christmas puddings on December 25th. Network roaming, or GPS, can tell a phone what country it is in, so the ring-tone might change to a reggae tune as the plane touches down in Jamaica, for example.”

Perhaps the most significant factor in the phones rise as a collective catalyst that can adapt itself to the geography, culture or politics of its user’s lies is in its very mobility. Mobile phones are now carried everyday by a huge global network of users. In the UK alone, over 75% of the population owns a phone. With increasing network compatibility, new product development such as Bluetooth, and the means to message across rival mobile phone networks, it seems that the barriers to this new frontier of connecting technologies and connecting people are falling more and more.

As Rheingold adds, “We may see social changes coming that we hadn’t expected.” By the evidence before us, we already have.
