Concierge on your phone

Auto Date Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

The Constellation Ayxta, made by the Hampshire-based company Vertu, contains no jewels or precious metals, but is constructed from a mixture of stainless steel, leather, ceramic and comes with a scratch-free sapphire glass display.

To put this new mobile telephone in context, most people in the UK take two months to earn the amount of money that this phone costs when you buy it. The amusing fact about this mobile is that it doesn’t come with any telephone calls, sms messages or even data minutes included! Unlike my current Orange mobile phone, thankfully.

The Vertu Constellation Ayxta’s high price is only partly justified because of its top-end materials and the fact it is handmade in Britain.

There are two impressive services which do come built into this phone, that potentially make it eight times more desirable than an Apple iPhone.

One is the Vertu Concierge service. A button programmed into all Vertu handset which allows users to contact a 24-hour concierge service, which connects the user to a “lifestyle manager” who can book plane tickets, order presents or sort out a gardener any time of the day.

A completely new service for Vertu customers is the other feature - The City Brief. The Vertu mobile handset uses its built in GPS unit to work out where you are located in the world and provide you with localised information on things like the best local restaurants, the pick of the weeks shows and events and similar localised information. Businessmen will also be informed of the local business etiquette.
