In 2008 Steve was named as the 53rd most wealthy in America by Forbes Magazine, all the same it is his phenomenal accomplishments in the business and finance world not to mention his donations to education and the arts which make this story something interesting. Steve’s story is an inspiration to people all over the world and in addition he has utilized his money to better many people’s lives as well.

In the 1980’s Steve co-founded the Blackstone Group with Peter Peterson, initially as a private equity management and financial advisory company. Since then, it has set the standard in m&a, but note that Steve did not start out running his own business off the bat. After calling the Philadelphia suburban area home for much of his childhood, Steve Schwarzman attended high school in the School District of Abington. He graduated from Abington Senior High School, and, pushing on from there, got his degree from Yale University in 1969. He opted to further his training at the highly esteemed Harvard Business School, receiving his Master’s degree in Business Administration in 1972. Then he commenced his career at Lehman Brothers investment bank, based in New York, New York. Stephen was assigned the title of managing director at the unusually early age of thirty one. Steve doesn’t solely offer his time and money to a wide range of charitable organizations, but additionally he has also been a part-time professor at Yale. What’s more, he is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the JFK Center for the Performing Arts in New York City. In addition, to give back even more, Steve just last spring gifted to the New York Public Library $100 million to help fund their construction project. They also called their new extension the “Stephen A. Schwarzman Building”.
