FL Auto Insurance Minimums

  • Bodily Injury Liability: $10,000/$20,000 Limit
  • Property Damage Liability (PDL): $10,000 Limit

Florida is a no-fault state signifying that your insurance underwriter will pay for damages from auto accidents disregarding of who’s at fault. Sometimes, drivers lose some of the legal rights to use legal action under a No-Fault system. The details of this kind of legal system are different for some other states, but the general construct is identical.

Personal Injury Protection (PIP) helps cover the expenses incurred for all people involved in an auto accident. The state of Florida has legal minimums that every single motorist is mandated to have under state law. For all other people involved, the limit is $20,000 and $10,000 is the amount required for one person involved. These are only Florida state directed minimums and each driver should look over their own requirements to find how much insurance protection is correct for you.

Uninsured Driver auto insurance coverage is for when you get into an auto accident with a motorist who does not carry auto insurance. This type of insurance is nonmandatory, but can help minimize expenses if you are in an accident with an uninsured driver.

Florida residents paid an average of a little over $1100 for their auto insurance in 2003. In the same year, the United States usual was almost $200 lower. Some people wrongly believe the state of Florida and insurance underwriters determine the rates, so they end up not watch for decreased rates. Each insurance company has a slighly different mode of working out a person’s premium so rates will deviate by customer. Shopping around at insurance comparison sites can aid you find cheaper auto insurance. Auto insurance comparison sites help you check the competitive prices available in Florida, so average Floridians can get a cheaper-than-usual low rate on their insurance policy.

Compared to 2006, the next year saw auto insurance costs decrease by .5% to 1%. The first half of 2008 continued to exhibit drops, but then the insurance costs started to go up over again through the first part of 2009. Unless you’re on a regular basis looking for the lowest rates, you’re most likely laying out too much. insurance costs. You might be able to acquire lower auto insurance rates at another auto insurance underwriter and/or find that you’re entitled for select insurance rebates.

Gym Equipment that Will Permit You Do a Potpourri of Exercise

Auto Date Friday, May 15th, 2009

Fine, you have settled that you desire to cease going to the gymnasium and get some gym equipment to utilise as a home gym. Literally, hundreds of pieces of gym equipment available. Some of the more best-selling home gyms, although they should in truth be named home gyms, since they are non multi-dimensional, are treadmills, exercise bikes, StairMaster’s, exercise bands and umteen others.

The biggest problem working at home is that dreaded curse known as boredom. You recognize what I mean, you begin something, you start working out, you get an exercise routine, but at some point inevitably you just get bored. That is really the key to realise what piece of fitness equipment you should buy. You really need to plan ahead and buy gym equipment that will allow you to alter your workouts and, as much as possible, prevent boredom.

Besides conceiving your purchase cautiously, what you’ll find is that once you get into shape, and I mean real shape, you will feel so superb and look so great that it will become very easy to master your boredom because you recognize that it is part of how the game is played. Physical exercise is not fun, however what is fun is finding the results in the mirror and how individuals react to how you look.

In the meantime, you should likely look for gym equipment that is multifunctional. What I mean is gym equipment that will permit you do a potpourri of exercise. This is important because you don’t desire to do the same thing in any event because your muscles will get used to the work and eventually not react like when you first started. You want to decieve your body from time to time and deviate the exercise.

Muscle Car Basics: ‘63-’67 Chevy II Canadian Cowl Tags

Auto Date Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

The Canadian assembled cars are a little different. Canadian tags have STYLE, BODY, PAINT, TRIM under each other in neat lines that read from left to right. (figure b) At the bottom are the accessories or BSO codes. You’ll find the cowl tag next to the heater motor on the firewall in the engine compartment on a Chevy II.

BODY SPECIFIC OPTION CODES

This is the meaty stuff. These are the factory installed goodies that make the car worthwhile restoring. If the car’s a convertible you’d like to see ‘D’ on that tag for power top. ‘E’ or ‘F’ means you had complete tinted glass or tinted windshield respectively. For station wagon nuts, the ‘G’ code meant you have a power tailgate option.

Some of the best options appear in Group Two section in the bottom middle of the tag. Air conditioning is code ‘K.’ Code ‘M’ is Powerglide transmission, ‘P’ is push button radio and ‘R’ gave you a rear seat speaker. The rear antenna option is code ‘S.’ The rear window defogger option is code ‘B’ and padded dash was code ‘C.’ A special lighting group with trunk and courtesy floor lamps is code ‘D’ and the big Kahuna is ‘Z’, which means Super Sport option. Oakland, California built cars used code ‘X’ instead. The last option was another Comfort & Convenience Package coded ‘F’. This gave you back up lamps, day night mirror, two speed windshield wipers, outside mirror and washer bottle. Hard to believe but these were extra cost back then.

By 1964, the SS package graduated to its own body code ‘47′ on the cowl tag. The ‘Z’ code on the BSO tag was changed to another rare option worth finding; Z now meant metallic brakes. Another new code included ‘L’ for M20 four speed transmission. 1963 carryover options included ‘O’ chromed passenger mirror and ‘Y’ for deluxe seat belts.

For 1965, the Nova SS series had two separate model series codes, one for inline six and the other for the V8. Model 17 was the Nova SS inline six and Model 18 was the Nova SS V8. The BSO codes were the same. Oshawa, Ontario, started assembly of Novas that year. For 1966, things remained the same with respect to the cowl tag codes. 1967 had no new codes listed.

WHAT WON’T APPEAR

No matter what your pal at the burger stand tells you, there weren’t many high performance options that appeared on GM tags. For engines, all you’ll know is your Chevy II is inline six or V8 powered. It won’t tell you if you have an L79, a K66 transistorized ignition module, power steering or many of the engine options as it didn’t have anything to do with body production. That’s where the build sheet or sales receipt is so valuable. Remember the cowl tags are riveted in place, so be wary if it looks as if it had been reinstalled.

Review: The Seventh Survivor

Auto Date Sunday, May 10th, 2009

Author: Lori Lacefield
ISBN: 9780977627684

What do you do when you are nominated to a very prestigious charitable foundation and you soon discover that the directors are quite creative and innovative when raising funds, although their methods are not exactly within the boundaries of the law and nothing is quite what it seems?

In The Seventh Survivor, Lori Lacefield constructs a kind of socially oriented crime mystery. The Diamond Foundation comprises ten women directors who were chosen to become part of the group as a result of their being a victims of a vicious crime at sometime in their life. Among the group are those who are survivors of rape, abuse, assault, kidnapping, and attempted murder. Moreover, the link that ties them together is that their perpetrators for the most part have escaped punishment due to the injustices or inefficiencies of the legal system. The modus operandi of The Diamond Foundation is, as pointed out by the chairman of the foundation, Marjoram Swail, “to set the record straight.”

The directors seek out individuals who have cheated, lied, and stolen from innocent people, and due to the shortcomings of the legal system are not prosecuted. The foundation’s solution is to identify and investigate these individuals, who the directors decide by a vote of two-thirds, have either violated the law or have committed some kind of immoral behavior, such as a religious minister committing adultery with a prostitute. If they gather sufficient evidence to prove the illegal or hypocritical actions of these individuals, they anonymously send him or her a note outlining the evidence that they have in their possession. The kicker of all of this is that they blackmail the perpetrator and request a sum of money to be donated to the foundation in order to keep the information from becoming public or falling into the wrong hands.

From these funds there is a distribution among designated agencies or crime victims after a ten percent fee is deducted and divided equally among the directors and a further ten percent fee deducted for administrative and investigative expenses. Unfortunately, sometimes the donors are reluctant to go along with the blackmail or perhaps don’t have the money to donate. What happens to these poor souls?

When Palmer Reed, our protagonist, is nominated to the board of directors of The Diamond Foundation, to say she was elated is an understatement. Reed was also thankful for having Marjoram Swail nominate her, as it was Swail who came to her rescue when she was the victim of a kidnapping during her childhood. The kidnapping had been tied into the activities of her father’s union activities with a company that was involved in the illegal disposal of toxic waste and the murder of some employees. All of which, as we will later discover, are cleverly interwoven into the blackmail activities of the foundation. However, when Reed discovers the true nature of the workings of the organization her elation turns to one of fright and dismay, for she is quite aware of the consequences. Moreover, when murder becomes part of the possible retributions meted out, she faces quite a dilemma.

Lacefield delivers all of the elements of a gripping crime novel with its clearly defined characters, high-stakes conflict, and the struggles of a vividly drawn protagonist. Quite prevalent throughout is the constant emotional charge that emanates from the struggle of the protagonist, Palmer Reed, squaring off against the powerful antagonist, Marjoram Swail. In addition, the heightened drama when Reed is pushed to her limits, as she grapples against competing values, conflicting visions and evil, all make for a riveting read that engages the reader on every level, particularly emotionally and intellectually.

Finding Reading Tutors that Deliver Results

Auto Date Sunday, May 10th, 2009

It’s not unusual for kids to sometimes just need a little extra help. If your child is falling behind in school and it isn’t a motivational problem (or even if it is), a specially trained tutor may be able to teach your child or encourage a struggling kid to learn. Tutors can help boost grades and get your child up to his/her proper reading level. But, effective reading tutors are a challenge to locate.Take a look at a number of considerations on what to expect in a reading tutor, where you can find a tutor, and how to know if the tutor is working. Every kid learns in their own way, so it is best to pick a tutor that suits the young learner.

A child’s parent should probably start a search by contacting your child’s counselor or teacher to discuss recommendations. Many community centers and public libraries often make reading assistance available.Taking a quick look through a phone book might show a commercially available private tutoring centers. Should the kid demonstrates a ongoing problem reading well, you might find a provider with expert speech-language pathologists like these chicago reading tutors, due to average reading tutors are educational generalists not familiar with the nature of dyslexia and reading difficulties. Finally, when you have found a prospective tutor, it is a meaningful step to evaluate whether a tutor is truly the right tutor for the kid.

Take an active role interviewing your child’s potential reading tutor. Quite a few parents assume one tutor is no different than the other. That’s just not true. Try to find a tutor with an instructional method that meets the national reading panel. Expect improvement. A worthwhile instructor will make meaningful progress with a kid that can remain a valuable skill and payoff forever. Some tutors, especially commercially marketed tutoring clinics, offer children with a test to benchmark progress when they begin instruction.

Book Review for Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed

Auto Date Sunday, May 10th, 2009

Coming on strong after the success of his Pulitzer Prize-winning Guns, Germs, and Steel, Jared Diamond’s new book, Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed is a tome of intriguing insight to the other side of the coin. While Guns, Germs and Steel examined how some societies thrived, due to their respective geographic and environmental endowments, this book examines why ancient societies have collapsed so often in the past, in part for the same reasons. To support this thesis, the book delves into a variety of past civilizations, including the Anasazi of the American Southwest, the Maya and the Viking colonies of Greenland to illustrate that collapse of a society is no respecter of geography. Nor is it a respecter of time. Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed also looks at modern-day societies such as Rwanda to explain the catastrophe that recently befell this afflicted nation, as well as it depicts present-day Montana and the fascinating factors rendering this once wealthy state into one of the poorest.

Could Montana be a microcosm for the U.S. at large? The book asks how once astute societies that built magnificent monuments testifying of their social and economic prowess, could suddenly vanish or be rendered impotent. Not lost on the reader throughout these case studies is the nagging thought that perhaps this fate might also befall our own wealthy country. In fact, it is the seminal point of this provocative book. Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed hopes to stir our collective consciousness to an understanding what lies before us so that we may be saved, as evidenced, from the pitfalls of the past. In essence, we cannot separate the economy from the environment if we hope to avoid devastation.

Perhaps this is best depicted in the book’s treatise of the Anasazi. Their vast ruins in what is now northern New Mexico echo a well-ordered, sophisticated society in a fragile desert environment that lasted over 600 years. To put this into perspective, they lasted longer than any European society in the Americas to date. However, over time the Anasazi of the Chaco Canyon complex became ever more specialized in the tasks of the society. This in turn allowed them to make gains in economies of efficiency while making them equally interdependent as a culture. More and more the main complex at Chaco Canyon depended on outlying communities and outposts for their support, not unlike London or Rome today. These cities served as governmental and religious centers to facilitate the management their respective societies. Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed describes how, like many of our cities of today, “Chaco Canyon became a black hole into which goods were imported but from which nothing tangible was exported.” As the population grew so did the demands on the surrounding environment. Fuel and other essential resources became ever more distant; coupled with soil depletion and erosion in the surrounding farmlands.

In essence, they became increasingly close to living on the margin of what the environment could reasonably support. The final straw was a prolonged drought. No longer able to support or feed themselves, the society suddenly collapsed into open revolt and total civil warfare, culminating in cannibalism and ultimately total abandonment of the site. The moral lesson is that while they “adopted solutions that were brilliantly successful and understandable in the ’short term’ (they) created fatal problems in the long run.” The analogy to our present day situation of overextending ourselves is obvious.

While Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed seems to make a strong connection between collapse of a society and it’s environment, this book is not all about eco-meltdowns. He also measures four other critical factors involving the demise of societies as well; including hostile neighbors; loss of trading partners; climate change and perhaps most importantly, a society’s responses to its challenges. In this vein, this book also looks at several past success stories where societies in Japan and the highlands of New Guinea had the insight to change fundamental, traditional values and restore a positive balance with nature, trading partners etc. and thrive.

In its conclusion, Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed presents a cautious optimism for our own future. The book concludes that because we are the creators our own problems, we also have the power to amend the quandaries we have made. This, the book maintains, will not be easy and will require profound courage; but necessary if we are to have hope for the future.

Cutting Business Expenses Through Outsourcing

Auto Date Saturday, May 9th, 2009

Many small and medium sized businesses are run from home and other places where the need for a minimal amount of employees is a must. To profit from a small or medium sized business, you need to cut costs where ever you can, this includes only hiring employees that you will need on a regular basis. In our high tech world, we have found a solution that integrates the finances of a small or medium sized business with the intermitting nature of some of its requirements. What we have found is outsourcing.

Outsourcing is by far one of the greatest assets to a small or medium sized business. You are not bound by the parameters of your town or city, but you can access unlimited knowledge from all over the world. You can tap into greater talents through outsourcing than you could by hiring a full-time local employee. However, not every business owner or company manager has the time, finances, or know-how to seek out and contact a freelance professional from half-way around the world. That is where an outsourcing solutions provider comes in: to find and hire talented professionals, so when your company needs custom software or technical support, you know right where to look.

A Cost Effective Solution

The biggest advantage of outsourcing your company’s business needs is that it is a cost-effective solution. There are many aspects that a company must tend to when it has employees. They have a responsibility to their workers year round, which is often costly.

For instance, a company has the responsibility of providing their employees with a specific amount of work each and every week. This is why outsourcing is so popular with companies who assign the everyday work of their business to a small amount of employees and then outsource jobs that need to be done less often. If your company specializes in selling golf clubs, you may not want to formally hire a programmer when you only require his services a few times a month.

You may also have a responsibility to provide your employees with health benefits, overtime, time and a half for holiday pay, a certain number of paid sick days, or other incentives. Providing these kinds of “extras” puts more strain on a small business’s finances. However, outsourcing allows you to spend that money on other aspects of your company.

Less Hassle for You

The second advantage of outsourcing is that there is less hassle involved as opposed to hiring company employees. When you go through a company that specializes in providing quality independent contractors to small and medium sized business, there are many time consuming duties that the company supplies for you.

You will not have to advertise for employees or conduct numerous interviews with potential hires. A company that specializes in contract employees has already spent a great amount of money recruiting experienced independent contractors, tested each one to determine their skills, conducted any background checks to make sure they have the correct credentials, and chosen the best of the best from the lot.

What’s more, you also will not have to deal with scheduling your independent contractors. Once you place a call to an outsourcing company and express your needs, they will then take over the task of determining which contract employees are best suited for your project and who is available to complete your project within the time frame specified. They also have the ability and manpower to schedule several employees if you have a large project you require to be complete within only a few days.

Another issue you will not be forced to deal with is the paperwork and tax responsibilities that go along with hiring new employees. Either the company you go through, or the independent contractors themselves, will take care of their own tax obligation. You won’t even be responsible for sending a 1099, since that will be the responsibility of the company who recruited the contractor.

No Long-Term Commitment

Often the hardest part of hiring someone is if you eventually have to fire them. Many managers and business owners dread having to tell someone that they no longer have a job with the company. On the other hand, if that employee is not producing at the expected level and living up to the standards the company has set, then it would be a financial inconvenience to keep them on the payroll, plus pay someone to fix their mistakes or fill in for them on a daily basis.

When you obtain a contractor through an outsourcing company, you no longer have to worry about that. If the job is not complete to spec, you let the company know and it is their job to take care of it. If the initial contractor did not finish their work or failed to complete the project requirements satisfactorily, there is a good chance the company will schedule another contractor to fix the job at no charge to you.

Convenience

Last, but not least, another valuable benefit of outsourcing your business needs is that you can use their services when you need them, no more and no less. If you want one contractor for one project but five contractors for another project, they are all available to you without any additional effort on your part. There is still only a single phone call to be placed and a single payment to be made.

As you can see, there are many advantages when it comes to outsourcing the needs of your business. The rewards are great and, at the end of the day, you have less to worry about. This allows you more time to focus on the other important aspects of your business. To put the icing on the cake, outsourcing allows a small or medium sized business access to the same quality of freelance professionals that a large company has, on their own budget.

How to Increase the Value of Your Home

Auto Date Monday, May 4th, 2009

The forecast for foreseeable future is a bit dismal if you’re a home owner - dwindling house prices are making many individuals worry. Some house owners will actually experience negative equity shortly, if not already. Nevertheless, there are means to head off this issue. The Answer : to add value to your house. How to do that? By giving your household a makeover. Do It Yourself / home improvements can bring far greater value to your property than the effective cost of those improvements.

So where to begin? A good place to begin is to think about the least used rooms in your property. Perhaps it is an adjoining garage, or spare bedroom. Taking down a wall can turn such a rarely used room into extra space for a living room or kitchen. Also look at the electrics and plumbing. A dimmer switch can change a bright, garish room into a warm, inviting living space - it’s just a dimmer switch, but showing such a pleasant ambience in your home makes the prospective home buyer feel more relaxed! Perhaps your property doesn’t have a downstairs lavatory? Then get one installed where your utility room is - again this can add much value to your house.

Possibly your 4 bedroomed house could be changed to 3 bedroom by ripping a wall down, and producing a much larger room. This may sound a tad strange, but actually bigger rooms will make you a better sale value, and rather often individuals use a 4th bedroom purely as a spare room (meaning it’s not really used or important) .

Next take a look at your garden. Have you got a garden shed? If not, consider installing one in the garden. Why? Well, here is one place where you can store all your gear that’s choking up your spare bedroom / garage / utility room. Sheds encourage gardening also, and keen gardeners (read: your prospective home buyer) like a shed in their garden. Also do some gardening yourself! If your garden’s been neglected, then mow the grass, plant flowers, trim the garden edges. Install some decking if you have some room. Just providing a drink to a future buyer out in your pretty garden can really help sell the place - viewers feel comfortable in such surroundings - so your garden is very important to help raise the price of your property and help sell your home.

So where to look for some advice? Take a look online. A home and garden directory like homeandgardenlistings.co.uk has all kinds of home and garden websites listed there : including a directory of bathroom fitters, directory of builders, directory of plumbers, electricians, directory of general furniture suppliers, directory of bedroom furniture and beds suppliers etc.

These are just a handful introductory tips on increasing the value of your house in these tricky times, but hopefully this will get you thinking!
