The 10 Physical Skills of Fitness Excellence

Auto Date Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

Train all 10 physical skills of cardiorespiratory endurance, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance, accuracy and toughness for physical fitness excellence… Not just one or two abilities creating unbalanced fitness performance.

Physical fitness excellence should be the goal of any physical training workout program.

Most physical fitness training programs are designed for the maximization of a particular physical attribute… size, strength, endurance, speed, etc.

It is this quest for maximization, this specialization, that leads to an imbalance in physical abilities.

To exhibit true physical fitness excellence, you must become a jack of all trades… and master of none.

The truth is, physical fitness is a compromise of 10 physical skills…

Cardiorespiratory Endurance The ability of the body’s systems to gather, process, deliver and sustain oxygen during a prolonged stressful effort or activity.

Strength The ability of a muscular unit, or combination of muscular units, to apply force.

Flexibility The ability to maximize the range of motion of a given joint or being able to bend or to be bent easily without breaking

Power The ability of a muscular unit, or a combination of muscular units, to apply force in a minimum amount of time. Think of power as strength + speed.

Speed The ability to minimize the time cycle of a repeated movement. In simple terms, how fast something moves.

Coordination The ability to combine several distinct movement patterns into a singular distinct movement. For example, the ability to make your arms, legs and other body parts move in a controlled way.

Agility The ability to minimize transition time from one movement pattern to another. An agile person is able to change from one movement pattern to another quickly and easily.

Balance The ability to control the placement of the bodies center of gravity in relation to its support base. In plain language, the ability to hold a position without falling over.

Accuracy The ability to control movement in a given direction or at a given intensity while remaining correct, exact or without mistakes.

Toughness The physical and/or mental strength and determination to do something which might be difficult and which will take a long time.

…and each are important.

The greatest physical fitness improvement is made by training ALL of the physical skills, bringing them up to optimum levels… without maximizing any one attribute at the expense of all others.

I’ll let you in on a little secret…

The key to exceeding your expectations lies not only with the training of these 10 physical skills… but also in how these skills interact, support and contribute to each other while performing an activity.

The 10 physical abilities are not something to be trained separately and used robotically… they are skills that must be trained in conjunction with one another and flow together flawlessly.

In other words… when you perform an activity, you are not going to say to yourself, “Now I will use my balance, now my speed and now my strength.”

For Physical Fitness Excellence… the lines between the physical abilities will be blurred and seamless.

Many people settle in to training only a few physical attributes but still say they are seeking physical fitness… but they forget that physical fitness is a compromise.

Most likely… your physical fitness success will be tested in sport, work and life by your weakest physical abilities, and not your strengths.

Seek to improve your physical fitness by improving all of the abilities needed for physical fitness excellence.

How many physical skills is your current physical fitness training program improving?

The Skinny on an Online MBA in Accounting

Auto Date Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

Going for an online MBA means that you are wanting further training in an Accounting field - probably for some kind of management position, or for a managerial enhancement. The opportunities to pursue the accounting MBA online can be accomplished through different methods. Here is the skinny on an online MBA in accounting.

There are basically two ways to go online with an online education, one enables you to take the classes at your own leisure; and the other way is to take the classes in a real time situation by going online and logging in to the classroom. While the first method permits you to study at your own leisure, the second is traditional in its time requirements.

Make Sure of Accreditation

Unless you only desire to take a couple of classes, it is a real good idea to look thoroughly at the accreditation of the University offering the MBA. Many schools today only have the appearance of being real - especially the online ones, that you do not want to take any chances with so expensive an education. You do not want to make any assumptions, either.

Courses of Study

The MBA in Accounting courses offer a degree of specialization, as it should. One area that you want to look for, as it is in high demand today, and will only get bigger in the near future, is in the accounting information systems. Many organizations are developing business information systems (also called knowledge management), that deal with purchasing, online transactions - from their clients, etc. This means that you might not want to take courses that meet only the general MBA requirements, but you may want to look toward the future.

Other up-to-date courses should involve such things as advanced techniques in costing, information systems of accounting, strategic planning, information management, corporate taxation, budgeting, and more.

Finish With Certification

Your hard-earned MBA should lead you to be able to be certified. A quality University will meet the minimum state requirements that will lead to certification in one of the following possibilities: certified public accountant (CPA); certified management accounting (CMA); and certified in financial management (CFM) or chartered financial analyst (CFA) certification. While one school may not provide all of them, it should allow for you to meet the requirements for one, or more.

Mansi gupta recommends that you visit www.oadg.net/2005/12/online_mba_in_a.html for more information on Online MBA in Accounting.

How To Make a Fortune Teaching Piano (or Guitar, or Drums, or Singing, or…) To Beginners

Auto Date Sunday, January 18th, 2009

“But I’m not in it for the money” you say.

Me neither.

I LOVE music and I LOVE to teach music. I feel sorry for people that go into a field just to make money.

They are missing it.

You’ve got to love what you do to do it well.

So with me, teaching music is a “get to” - not a “got to.”

But if you love people and you love music, what’s the harm in maximizing your income? It’s not the raw pursuit of money - it’s simply multiplying yourself so that your skill can benefit more people, and in so doing, benefit yourself as well.

Why beginners?

Because for every advanced music student, there are 100 beginners. It’s just a matter of numbers. If you want to teach more advanced students (as I do) that’s fine - it all adds up. But beginners are the “low fruit” - you can reach them easily and there is no limit to their numbers.

Every year millions more kids get to the age where their parents start thinking about getting music lessons for them, so your prospect list is constantly getting bigger every day. There are plenty of beginners to go around, so competition is really not an issue at all for a person who loves both people and music.

What about adults?

Every year several million people retire from their jobs and careers, and many are looking to take up hobbies they never had time for before.

So if you are a musician looking to increase your income, look no farther. Get a business card and take out a couple low-cost classified ads in your local paper, or place a small ad in your local Yellow Pages. If you’re a good teacher, you soon won’t need to advertise at all - word of mouth will take over and soon you’ll be teaching other family members and friends, so your expenses will drop to zero as your teaching income rises.

That’s nice work. And - you CAN get it!

Ukulele Tab: Learn Mary Had A Little Lamb With Ukulele Tab

Auto Date Friday, January 16th, 2009

Have you ever played a melody on your ukulele? Well, if not let this be the first time! I will show you how to play Mary Had A Little Lamb on two strings on your ukulele. We will use easy ukulele tab so you don’t need to know sheet music.

Mary Had A Little Lamb is a popular nursery rhyme. Here is the first verse:

Mary had a little lamb
little lamb, little lamb
Mary had a little lamb
its fleece was white as snow

Thomas Edison used this poem in testing his invention of the phonograph in 1877. It became the first audio recording to be successfully made and played back.

Let’s start playing the first notes! The melodi you now will play will correspond to the text line:

Mary had a little lamb

0/1 3/2 1/2 3/2 0/1 0/1 0/1

This is my special form of ukulele tab for articles to be sure that they are readable on article sites.

0/1 means that you play the first string with your right hand thumb without pressing down any left hand finger. It is called to play on an open string.

3/2 subsequently means that you press down the third fret on the second string. Now when you understand how to read my ukulele tab notation we will proceed with the next line of lyrics:

little lamb, little lamb

3/2 3/2 3/2 0/1 3/0 3/0

This type of ukulele tab doesn’t indicate the length of the notes. I guess you hear that the third and sixth note ought to be a little longer than the rest.

Here is the third line of lyrics and the corresponding ukulele tab:

Mary had a little lamb

0/1 3/2 1/2 3/2 0/1 0/1 0/1

Identical with the first line as you can see.

I haven’t told you anything about which left hand finger to press down on the frets.

You can of course use your first finger for all the notes. A more professional approach is to play the notes on the first fret with your first finger and the notes on your third fret with your little finger.

It is a little bit tricky at first but as your fingers get used to it it will actually be easier to find the right notes. You don’t even have to look at your fingers.

Let’s complete the song with the last line:

it’s fleece was white as snow

0/1 3/2 3/2 0/1 3/2 0/1

I would suggest that you learn the melody by heart. The ukulele tab is a little help in the beginning but it’s fun to be able to have a repertoire with songs you can play whenever you want.

If your ukulele is tuned with the first string to A the song will be in the key of F. The chords you will need is F and C7. They are easy on ukulele but a little bit harder on guitar.

The F and C chord written with my type of easy ukulele tab will look like this:

F: 0/1 1/2 0/3 2/4

C7: 1/1 0/2 0/3 0/4

I hope you will find out by yourself where the chords will fit in the melody.

You can use this ukulele tab on a guitar too as the first three strings on a guitar are tuned in the same way but not in the same key as on an ukulele.

The Benefits of A High School Diploma 1

Auto Date Thursday, January 15th, 2009

Getting your high school diploma is one of the best things you can do for yourself. Making sure you graduate from high school can mean some hard work. You have to take all of the required courses to get your high school diploma. You have to attend the number of course sessions required by your school and by the state to get your diploma. You even have to get the grades mandated by the state and the school board to get your diploma. If you are living on your own, working a full time job, or trying to raise a family and finish your high school diploma, it can be very difficult to graduate with that diploma in hand. In fact, there may be lots of times when you simply feel like giving up. However, sticking with the program will help you in the long run.

One of the best things about getting your high school diploma is that it means financial security for a lifetime. If you choose to dropout of high school, you can expect to earn more than a quarter of a million dollars less than someone who stayed in high school and got their diploma. Moreover, a diploma can open a number of doors that will be closed to high school dropouts. Finally, if you don’t get your high school diploma, you can expect that you will never be able to enroll in any education that may help to further your career. Post secondary education like college and trade school requires that you have a high school diploma to enroll in their courses.

You will have to follow a long, hard road to get your high school diploma. If you live in a nontraditional situation, it can be even more difficult, as the instructors and the school do not always understand or sympathize with your situation. However, staying with your classes can mean a number of great benefits for you.

Tomorrow’s MP3 digital music - will it be small with tons of storage, larger with a video screen, or

Auto Date Thursday, January 15th, 2009

Tomorrow’s MP3 digital music - will it be small with tons of storage, larger with a video screen, or non-existent and end up in a cellphone.

Changes in the market will likely split into all three markets the way as stated in the title above. Most of it really depends on the Americans and Europeans and which continent will be more aggressive in marketing. Basically Europeans tend to like their gadgets in one source. But Americans seem to have more than one gizmo on them. Music players probably will not get much smaller because they are at the limit of there usability.

Future of digital music

Flash memory players may eventually not be able to keep up with the hard drive mp3 players due to manufacturers working on potentially offering more storage where 5 to 10 gigabit players will become available on the hard drive end. Going forward, they could be all about video and image playback just like they are now all about music. This will not move forward until manufactures and software companies are convinced their copyright is secure since being such a new area in music development.

Future music around the house

More music digital video will eventually change music listening at home. Manufactures are constantly creating devices to take music from a computer and have it play hi fi digital music on your home stereo. There are a few wireless systems currently available on the market, like the wireless music centre from Phillips, the Sonos digital music system, or Microsoft’s media center extender. Apple also has it own product called airport express. All of these can stream wireless music around your home.

Chord Piano - An Easy Way to Begin

Auto Date Wednesday, January 14th, 2009

Do you know why the guitar is the most popular instrument in the world? It’s because it’s easy for a complete beginner to pick it up and actually create something most of us can call music right away.

Do you think a beginning piano student can do this? Not really. That’s why learning how to play chord piano is becoming so popular. Most students don’t want to wait years before they can create music. They want to be creative like their guitarist counterparts - and why not?

Learning how to play chord piano is actually easier then playing chords on a guitar. It’s because you don’t have to hurt your fingers on the strings. No finger calluses here. Not at all. In fact, the piano may be the easiest of all instruments to play. Just press on a key and you’ve sounded a note. Press on three or more keys and you have created a chord.

Now, when most beginners think of playing piano chords, their minds immediately turn to triads. While triads are OK and are frequently played in most music, it’s not the best chord structure to start out with. This is because we do not live in the 19th century anymore! Most piano students want to learn something that sounds a little closer to the century we’re living in and this is where the open position chord structure comes in.

This modern sounding 6-note chord covers more than 2 octaves of the piano making it the best starting place for the beginner to create modern sounds. It is a seventh chord too! Used frequently in Jazz and New Age music, this chord type is easily modifiable into larger chord extensions as well.

Don’t let guitarists have all the fun. Learn chord piano and you’ll soon be the envy of guitar players everywhere!

Concert Tickets Online - It Pays To Think Outside The Box Office To Secure Those Ultra-Hot Seats

Auto Date Sunday, January 11th, 2009

Getting seats at face value has become far more difficult. Shows for big-name acts sell out in minutes at the box office, whilst most of the best seats aren’t even offered to the public.

If you not lucky enough to be a season ticket holder, or a member at the venue where the concert is being held and you have no intention of waiting in queues for hours then what other options are there?

After a show has sold out, you can still get seats. Ticket prices will generally be higher, due to the free market the holder of tickets may sell at any price they wish. This price is generally determined by the popularity of the event, amount of tickets available and the demand of the tickets.

Many people go to eBay, which has a great deal of tickets being offered for sale. Once again, these tickets are being sold by individuals who may ask any price the wish. Most tickets sold on eBay are sold buy auction, where the price is determined by the highest bidder. Its worth bearing in mind when buying tickets through eBay these tickets could be stolen, counterfeit, or in the case of tickfast, tickets sold to more than one person. In any of these cases, you are going to miss the show and be out of your money with nowhere to turn because the person who sold you the tickets can not be found.

The better option is ticket brokers. These have a large selection of tickets for you to choose from. Try Superior Tickets, www.superiortickets.co.uk, a reputable ticketing agency based in the UK. They are renowned for selling the best seats on the internet, with a clear and easy to navigate website, it makes finding the right tickets easy! There is also the added security that if any problems should arise with you purchase, they will be there to help and they guarantee all tickets they sell.

It’s Dark - Get Your Camera Out

Auto Date Saturday, January 10th, 2009

Wherever you live, there will be a time when it is dark and dreary. Dark evenings can be a bit depressing but also great for photography!

When it’s dark it can be refreshing to take pictures of …. lights! No, it’s not a misprint. And, of course, light is needed for all photography otherwise we would never see an image. But seeking out artificial lights on dark days can be rewarding.

Where do you find these lights? That’s an easy question to answer - everywhere!

Street lights, house lights, lights for bars and restaurants. Monuments lit up. Boats on water (don’t forget the reflections), piers, lagoons. Cities and towns, buildings, shops, institutions. Roads and thoroughfares - lights form street lighting, cars, bikes. Fireworks, fairgrounds …..

Everywhere!

The great thing is that you can capture some fantastic images by using long shutter speeds at night (you will HAVE to use a longer speed in any case due to the lower ambient light levels). Longer shutter speeds will result in trails of light across your image if the light source is moving. This is particularly so when photographing moving vehicles - the front and rear lights can produce exciting and interesting effects.

Shooting at night can give spectacular effects and can make a familiar subject appear totally different. Worth a go.
