Personality Is Key to Diet Plan Choice

Auto Date Friday, January 30th, 2009

Personality plays an important role in many of the daily decisions we make, and choosing a diet plan or weight loss regimen is no different. It is important to understand your own personality before deciding to embark upon a new diet or weight loss program to ensure the best chance for success. Read the following personality types and determine which of the three describes you best so your diet plan choice is right for you!

The Self-Reliant Loner

Are you the DIY (do-it-yourself) type? Do you tend to tackle tasks yourself that others might hire out for? Do you feel that if a job is to be done right, you should do it yourself? Do you believe in carrying your own weight (no pun intended)? If so, then your best chance at success with a diet or weight loss plan is to go it alone with a DIY diet plan. Grab a book that outlines a sensible diet with lots of recipes included, and you’re good to go. You have the willpower to do things on your own, and you’d rather not have someone else trying to tell you what to do.

The Community Mixer or Partier

Are you the type that thrives on group interaction? Would you rather be mixing and mingling at a party than sitting on your couch watching TV? Is it important to you that you share your day with others and look for feedback and discussion wherever you go? If so, your best bet is to go with one of the popular online diet plans. You’ll be able to connect with large groups of people who all have similar goals as you, and you can get feedback and support 24 hours a day.

The Follower

Are you the type that finds it difficult to make decisions on your own? Would you consider yourself to be a follower who would prefer to just follow directions and let someone else guide your every move? Is it just easier to do what you’re told than to constantly have to think about what to eat, how much to eat, and when to eat? If that sounds like you, then your best bet is to join one of the diet support groups that expect you to check in at least once a week for weigh-ins and face-to-face support. This in-person human contact will keep you on track better than virtual online communities or going it alone.

Now that you know which personality type you are most like, you stand a much better chance of actually choosing the right weight loss plan for you - and your chance for success is much higher! Good luck!

Use Multi Flash Card Readers To Overcome Data Storage Format Incompatibilities

Auto Date Friday, January 30th, 2009

As advanced consumer electronics like digital cameras, PDAs, multimedia mobile phones, and similar devices become increasingly affordable to the everyday user, we find ourselves having to keep track of more and more types of technology, which makes keeping all of our devices compatible with each other increasingly difficult. The technological marvels that have opened up so many new avenues to the common home user, which used to be reserved for the wealthy, are all sold to us with the advice that they will somehow make our lives easier and better. Specifically looking at digital cameras, the biggest problem of this sort is the fact that there are more than 8 distinctly different types of memory storage card commonly used, and the devices that use them are rarely able to accommodate more than two types at best. SecureDigital, CompactFlash of two generations, Microdrive, SmartMedia (SmartCard), Memory Stick and Memory Stick Pro, xD Picture Card, and MultiMediaCard: Just how many of these do you use? If you know, do you know which device uses which? Fortunately, with the advent of multi-format flash-card readers, you can now safely know that no matter which camera, phone, PDA, or PC storage card you use, you can transfer data between any of your other devices quickly and easily.

A multi-format flash card reader is simply a device that plugs into your PC via any of a number of different types of data cable, which has a series of slots that accept one or more of the above types of removable media. It can read and write to these cards, transferring data - be it photos, mp3’s, word documents, or anything else - between the memory card and your computer’s hard drive. From there, you can transfer data back to another card via the card reader, if you wish, or perhaps edit and print off photos from the computer, burn data to a data CD or DVD, or simply keep them in your collection on your PC. They are surprisingly affordable for what they deliver, and there is a very wide range available to the market.

When deciding which card reader is for you, there are thankfully only a few things you need to consider that will make the difference in your purchasing decision. The obvious one is to consider what you actually need: How many, and which types of flash card do you use, and are you likely to add to this number in the foreseeable future? Naturally, then you consider which of the available readers has the features you need. It may be that you wish to be ready for every occasion, opting to simply buy the reader that offers the highest number of different formats.

Since finding a range of readers that support more formats than any one user is likely to need is not difficult, a more important thing to consider is whether a reader is compatible with your PC. The majority use either FireWire or USB 2.0 to transfer between your computer and the device. While there are a few important differences between them such as the maximum speed of the connection, the difference between their connection speeds is the factor least likely to limit how well it operates, and falls beyond the scope of this brief guide. What you do need to know is whether or not you have either a FireWire or USB port on your computer. Chances are, if your computer’s age is anything like your camera’s, you have already have USB support. For a point of reference, USB 1.0 (which is compatible with, but slower than USB 2) began to become standard around the time Pentium III’s were being released. If you’re not sure, you’re looking for a rectangular “female” socket - there will probably be more than one - either on the front or back of your PC measuring roughly 1/2″ wide by roughly 3/16″ high (or about 12mm x 3.5mm). As well as hardware compatibility, if you’re not using a recent version of the Microsoft Windows operating system, you need to consider whether you system will be able to run the software for the reader you buy. While all the software may not be compatible on Linux or Mac OS, flash card readers generally just act as a fairly standard mass-storage device, and the cards often use a slightly modified FAT-16 file system, meaning basic read-write operation is usually easy to set up, even without the software. Finally, there is the cost to consider.

Having laid down the criteria for judging the products, we can compare a couple of the more interesting models on the market. Obviously there are a lot more than just these two out there, however, they serve well by way of example. The SanDisk’s ImageMate 8-in-1, as the name suggests, supports eight different media types: Compact Flash (1 & 2), MultiMediaCard, Memory Stick, xD Picture Card, Memory Stick Pro, and Secure Digital. While it does support it, it should be noted that SanDisk recommends against using Microdrive with this device. It has 4 physical ports, each acting as a USB mass storage device (4 virtual drives in total) with any version of Windows later than Windows 95, or Mac OS 9 and later. It uses a USB 2.0 interface, and features very fast transfer speeds from all of the card formats to the PC. If you want compatibility with just about every major flash card in use, then the ImageMate 8-in-1, manufactured by a respected brand in the industry, and usually retailing for just over $60, is a superb purchase.

If you need a better guarantee of compatibility with your system, then you should consider the Addonics Pocket Ultra DigiDrive (UDD). It supports all of the formats of the ImageMate, plus a few less common ones too. Also operating as a USB 2.0 mass storage device, the feature that sets this one apart form the rest is the compatibility. In addition to being compatible with Windows and Mac OS, it includes drivers and support for Sun Solaris 8 and higher, and Linux Kernel 2.4 and higher. This device represents the ultimate in inter-compatibility, and also being priced at around $60, it is a tempting purchase.

Flash card readers are highly affordable devices that take the headache of compatibility issues away. Whether for your camera, PDA, multimedia phone, PC, and any similar device you care to name, these ingenious devices are so affordable that you almost can’t afford not to have one.

Used DJ Equipment

Auto Date Monday, January 26th, 2009

Used or previously owned equipment is an alternative to buying expensive original gear. Investing in genuine DJ equipment costs a bomb and this is a severe impediment to those who are planning to take up disc jockeying as a career but haven’t made the final decision yet. Essential parts of the DJ equipment are turntables; CD, MP3 or DVD players; and sound mixers. Each of these parts costs hundreds of dollars and can really set back the budget. However, the consolation is that all these parts are available in used condition at lower rates and in fairly good qualities.

Most stores retail their used equipment online. There are also individuals who want to get rid of their old equipment and they advertise for them online. Internet advertisements for previously owned equipment contain the names of the equipment along with names of the makers and their versions. Features present with the gear are mentioned. It is considered ethical to mention the period for which the stuff has been in use and what kind of use it was - light or heavy. Sometimes, pictures of the appliance are posted along with the advertisement.

Portals like eBay sell several items of used DJ equipment. There are various other websites like Birdland Music, Calibex, Tom Lee Music, Pro Mix, etc. which are dedicated only to selling new and used DJ equipment. Some of these websites require registration to buy and sell equipment. Funds are exchanged through wire transfer and transactions can be either worldwide or local.

Apart from online transactions, there are many music stores who stock used DJ equipment. Even peripheral components like headphones and speakers can be obtained at extremely low prices.

Sellers of used equipment usually tweak equipment before reselling them. This includes improvement of their quality as well as amelioration of their looks. This is called refurbishing the equipment and is a very common practice employed by used equipment sellers. Due to this, they can charge a few extra dollars from the second customer and earn their profit.

Buying used equipment is entirely at the buyer’s risk. In most cases, there are no guarantees and warranties, and it is made clear to the buyer that all liabilities are at their sole risk. Some store owners do not issue a receipt of the sale. Even insurance companies shirk from covering used equipment. It must not be expected from used equipment that they would function for a long time.

However this is not true most of the time. Sometimes professional DJs keep selling their equipment and buying new ones whenever they are launched with additional features. Such equipment is rarely used and is almost as good as the original.

DJ Equipment provides detailed information on Buy DJ Equipment, Cheap DJ Equipment, Discount DJ Equipment, DJ Equipment and more. DJ Equipment is affiliated with Virtual DJs.

How to Download Free Ringtones

Auto Date Saturday, January 24th, 2009

Ringtones are very popular these days. People personalize their mobile phones with different ringtones using several file formats, either monotonic, polyphonic and even full-length songs in mp3 or MIDI format.

You can either buy ringtones or get them for free. So where do you find free tones and music? The Internet. There you can find loads and loads of tones to choose from. Different websites have thousands of tones in online libraries, categorized by genre or classification, so you’ll not have a hard time finding the ringtone you’ve always wanted. So - how can you get these free tones and music for your cell phone? There are few simple steps.

First, check your mobile phone to make sure it’s compatible with the type of tones that you want. Say, for example, you want to use a ringtone in mp3 format - to use it, your phone should be able to use mp3 tones.

Once you find a tone you like on the Internet, you can ensure your phone is compatible with it by opening your WAP browser and typing the tone’s URL. After you’ve confirmed that it’s compatible, save the ringtone on your phone.

So how do you download the tone you want? Once you’ve found it, you can download it by clicking on the ringtone of your choice. A new window will pop up with a WAP address that you must enter into your phone’s WAP browser.

When it comes to searching for your free tone using a web browser, you should specify the song and enter the title or description into a search engine. And if you are unable to find the free polyphonic tone you are searching for on your first try, use more specific terms. You can add the format type like “Britney.mid” for polyphonic ringtone or “greenday.mp3″ for a song or “always.3gp” for the video ringtone. Also remember to include the words “free ringtone” to narrow your search.

You can also download ringtones by using a data cable to transfer it to your phone. Data cables can be found at electronics stores or you can visit elite-wireless.com to find one compatible to your phone. You can also check tagshop.com, where you can find cables for a wide range of cell phone brands and models.

Negligence and Tort Reform

Auto Date Friday, January 23rd, 2009

Negligence is conduct that is culpable because it falls short of what a reasonable person would do to protect another human being from risks that might harm them. For instance, if you leave a child unattended in an unlocked automobile and the car is hijacked then you would be negligent. A reasonable person would not leave their child in an unlocked car that is unattended by an adult. A reasonable person would know that leaving a child in an unattended car could lead to a child being kidnapped or injured. Another example of negligence is leaving a bonfire unattended which in turn causes a forest fire which damages and destroys homes. People need to act responsibly. If they do not act responsibly and harm comes to someone then they could be found guilty of negligence. As human beings, we should all try to look out for each other. It is the right thing to do. We need to all try to avoid harming people if possible. We all learn as children to try and be as careful as possible. We are taught to do unto others as we would like done to ourselves. Negligence is pretty easy to prove because attorneys usually make the argument and ask jurors what they would do if they were in the defendant’s shoes. A preemption is the displacing effect that a federal law will have on a conflicting or inconsistent state law. An express preemption happens when Congress says we hereby preempt in the particular statute. Conflicts preemption is a situation where it is impossible to comply with both the federal statute and the state statute. Preemptions have occurred in immigration cases, telecommunication cases, environmental cases, and chemical cases. A federal court or a state court may look at legislative history to determine what Congress meant if they did not clearly state that they have issued a preemption and what their intent was. For instance, if a federal law is enacted by Congress that bans something then the states cannot write and enact laws that say the same thing about the subject in question. Congress makes federal laws, and they are the laws that states need to refer to. Most of the time, the courts will find a state law to be preempted by federal law if it deals with certain issues such as banking, foreign affairs, and commerce. This is because these issues are usually dealt with on a federal level, not a state level because they are so important and affect the entire country.

Recording Studios Take Your Music to the Next Level

Auto Date Friday, January 23rd, 2009

Even with the abundance of software and hardware available to create your own recordings at home, there comes a time when you’re ready to take your music to the next level. Recording studios may seem intimidating to the musician who is taking the leap, but the reality is that there are high quality, low cost recording studios that can make the transition painless.

Once you’ve made the decision to book studio time, you need to find a studio that will give you the support you need to create great recordings. Word of mouth recommendations can be helpful, but they’re not always reliable. It’s worth your while to do the legwork and check out each facility to see what it has to offer. Here are some things to keep in mind while making your decision:

Acoustics: A music studio should have top of the line acoustics. This means that there should be an elevated soundstage and high ceilings, as well as several isolation rooms.

Engineering: A sound recording studio should provide highly skilled and trained professional engineers to help you achieve the optimum quality of your recordings. At the minimum, the engineer should be proficient in monitoring and metering, controlling signal paths, assigning tracks, and mixing.

Equipment: Equipment varies by recording studio. Some Southern CA recording studios, for example, offer at least two mixers, over a half dozen outboards, a wide variety of software, over a dozen different types of microphones, quality monitoring equipment, and a variety of amps. Although it may seem like a minor point, it’s important that the sound recording studio use high quality cables. If they don’t, it could have a detrimental effect on the recording.

Musicians and Instruments: Many state of the art recording studios have a variety of new and vintage keyboards, guitars, and percussion instruments available for use, as well as accessibility to professional musicians who can help you create the sounds you desire.

Cost: As a whole, musicians don’t have a lot of disposable income, so it’s important to find recording studios that have reasonable rates. Some Southern CA studios, for example, have low introductory rates of $40 an hour or less. In order to avoid unwanted surprises, be sure to ask about minimums, as well as extra equipment charges.

References: Every reputable sound recording studio should be able to provide you with a client list, as well as phone numbers for references. You should also ask to listen to samples of recordings from the studio. Try to find a sample that is comparable to what you are trying to achieve, and ask questions about what was involved in that recording process. It will give you a good idea of what to expect when you go in to record.
